In this sweet Jelly Bean Class, you’ll learn how to capture the direction, movement, detail and color variations of a pretty little feather – all in just 90 minutes. Drawing a realistic feather really is all about a trick of the eye. Let Pearl’s innovative techniques guide you through the process.
Gather together your fun tools, like the Slice Ceramic Cutter, a stylus, and a marker blender and get ready to spend a fun morning with Pearl and her delightful South African accent. You really shouldn’t miss this one!
You’ll learn:
• To quickly establish a blended underpainting to provide the foundation for feathers
• How embossing or impressing goes a long way towards creating fine feather details
• How to enhance the feathery texture with the Slice tool!

Small, sweet and hard to stop at just one, Jelly Bean classes are our newest way to help you and your colored pencil life bloom. Each short, focused class is a mere 60 to 90 minutes, but you’ll learn lessons you can use for a lifetime. Small projects or single topics that deserve a bit of delving into, Jelly Beans will enhance your skill set and knowledge base in a fun, quick fashion, all from the comfort of your own home. Scheduled on both weekdays and weekends, we hope to accommodate every schedule.
What you need to know:
- You’ll receive an email with a link to download a PDF with a supply list and Zoom instructions, as well as a link to the classroom.
- On the day of the workshop, just before 10:30 am Pacific Time, click on the link to enter the classroom.
- As Pearl demos in class, you’ll follow along with your own drawing.
- During the live workshop, feel free to ask questions.

- Printer (for printing line drawing onto drawing paper)
