Which Paper Is Right? – Jelly Bean Class with Amy Lindenberger

Have you ever wondered, “Which paper is right for me?” or “Why does an artist choose one paper over another?”

This Jelly Bean class with Amy is an important paper primer! We’ll examine three different white papers commonly used for colored pencil work, and explore their unique surfaces and handling characteristics. Learn what to expect from each surface, the best layering approaches, which will accept both dry and wet (blending with OMS) techniques, how they handle burnishing and erasing, and if finished drawings created on these surfaces differ noticeably from each other.

Knowing the right paper to use for the art you want to create is so important. This information can be a game changer!

You’ll learn how to:
• The best layering approach for each paper, including how many layers a surface is likely to accept
• How each surface handles various burnishing and erasing techniques
• Whether certain pencil brands work better on these different surfaces

About Amy: Amy Lindenberger is the author of several colored pencil instruction books, including CP Surfaces: Black Paper and CP Surfaces: Pastelmat; Amy has taught colored pencil widely for decades, in the Midwest and on Ann Kullberg sponsored Colored Pencil Workshop Cruises. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Akron (OH) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing.

Each short, focused class is a mere 60 to 90 minutes, but you’ll learn lessons you can use for a lifetime. Small projects or single topics that deserve a bit of delving into, Jelly Beans will enhance your skill set and knowledge base in a fun, quick fashion, all from the comfort of your own home. Scheduled on both weekdays and weekends, we hope to accommodate every schedule.

• On the day of the workshop, just before class begins, click on the link to enter the classroom.
• As Amy demonstrates, you’ll get to ask questions.
